It was in the carport, of all places, and darted off into the darkness when we caught it in the headlights.  We\u2019ve had foxes on the place before, but this was our first lynx.<\/p>\n<p>\tLooking the critter up on the Internet, the SO said, \u201cBobcats are kinda like you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cHuh?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cIt says here, \u2018The bobcat, Lynx rufus or Felis rufus, has a gray to brown coat.\u2019 You\u2019ve got both.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cUh, honey\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cAnd it says, a Lynx rufus \u2018black tufted ears.\u2019 You\u2019ve got those, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cSo,\u201d I grumbled, \u201cI\u2019ll ask the barber to trim my geezer ear hairs, OK?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cAnd,\u201d she went on blithely, \u201cit\u2019s got a black tipped, stubby tail. Don\u2019t me that\u2019s not like you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\u201cWell, I\u2019m not gonna ask the barber to shave my butt!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\tSince there ain\u2019t no livestock or edible pets here, I\u2019ve got no problem with the bobcat.  I think it\u2019s kinda cool to have him here. And if he goes off his own way, I suppose we\u2019ll just have to consider him the missing lynx.<\/p>\n<p>\tI just wish my sweetie would get over her new habit of calling me Rufus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Significant Other and I found our first bobcat on the property last night.
