Pin Shoot 2019 is now in the firearms history books. As you go down the list of the scores, you\u2019ll see some of the 150 or so registered shooters competed in all of \u2018em.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past,\nI\u2019ve described this iconic match in various gun magazines as \u201cthe national\nchampionships of plinking\u201d and \u201ca carnival midway of shooting games, using live\nammo and winning guns instead of teddy bears if you score high enough.\u201d  The competition is fierce, and fun, and in\nthe optional side events (but not the core five-pin matches!) you can buy\nanother entry and try again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kinda like\nLas Vegas, but more skill than luck, and it\u2019ll probably cost you less and\nyou\u2019ll almost certainly make more new friends. \nAlso a bit like Vegas, the stakes you lay down for your entry fees\nshould be considered \u201chigh octane entertainment expense,\u201d not \u201cinvestment.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pin\nShoot, and the Second Chance Combat Match as it was known in the old days, is\nvery much a family event.  That\u2019s evident\nin the scores.  The Blough family\nabsolutely kicked butt. Jeff Chudwin and his wife Kimberly Heath-Chudwin remain\nthe power couple of rifle shooting, each having been individual winners of the\nNational Patrol Rifle Championship with their AR15s.  The Christiansen brothers remain tough to\nbeat, jointly or singly. Multiple branches of the Hauserman family are perennial\ntop contenders.  Ditto the father\/daughter\nteam of Felipe and Sara Campos, and the husband\/wife team of Sam and Bonnie\nYoung.  Of course, lots of folks \u201ccome\nstag,\u201d shoot well, and have a ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hit the\n\u201cprevious\u201d tab on this blog, and in the last two entries here you\u2019ll see the\nfaces of several who made it into the winner\u2019s circle. The blog archives from\nJune of 2018 and 2017 will give more insight into this, my all-time favorite\nshooting event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On my end,\nthe best I could do was third place in Concealed Carry Five-Pin, shooting a\nSmith & Wesson M&P Shield .45 with Federal HST 230 grain +P jacketed\nhollow points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
