According to Michael Bloomberg\u2019s anti-gun organ <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrace.org\/2018\/09\/how-many-assault-weapons-in-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"The Trace (opens in a new tab)\">The Trace<\/a>, <\/em>there are 15 to 20 million AR15s and similar rifles now lawfully in private hands in America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If they write the ban in the same wording as the recently\npassed law in Washington State, the prohibited weapons will include millions\nmore sporting rifles, such as the innocuous .22s in the genre of the Ruger\n10\/22 and the Marlin Model 60.&nbsp; This puts\nus into tens of millions of people affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A ban must perforce include criminal penalties for\npossession.&nbsp; Let\u2019s say they follow New\nYork\u2019s ludicrously named SAFE Act, which makes possession of every single magazine\ncapable of holding more than ten cartridges a separate felony count in and of\nitself. And bear in mind, a \u201cfelony\u201d is a crime punishable by a year or more in\nprison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How many millions of gun owners will be made felons by a\nstroke of the pen, for their possession of property legally purchased and\nresponsibly owned?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are the gun-banners really this stupid, or is it that they\nthink the rest of the American public is that stupid?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel a sudden urge for a drink, but it\u2019ll probably go like\nthis at the pub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBartender, I\u2019ll have a Beto O\u2019Rourke, please.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUh, how do you make one of those?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust give me a glass of Irish whiskey, and we\u2019ll both\npretend it\u2019s tequila.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presidential candidate Beto O\u2019Rourke rails against mass incarceration in America.
