Well,\ndepending when and where you saw him, it might have been\u2026me.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When this\nwhole thing started, we were told that people wearing bandannas and even N95\nmasks in public were fools: \u201cDon\u2019t you idiots know that just cloth won\u2019t do\nanything? And the mask is only for the sick people so they don\u2019t expel, not for\nus healthy folks who are worried about inhaling?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How quickly\nthe paradigms change.  Now we\u2019re told\nwe\u2019re fools if we don\u2019t <\/em>wear the damn\nthings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since masks\nhave so long been associated with criminals hiding their identities, there are\nplaces where it\u2019s illegal to go masked in public.  Interesting collision of values, there, when\nthe government tells us that we SHOULD wear them, and are all but exhibiting\n\u201creckless, wanton disregard for human life\u201d if we don\u2019t<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first of\nthis week, I noticed a significant minority of the people in the nearest town\nwere masked.  By Wednesday, a slight\nmajority were wearing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some were\nhaving fun with them\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of us are not having success with our first attempts. The \u201choodie worn backwards\u201d approach turns out to need some tweaking\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, for now, I\u2019ve gone back to the look I had when I used to shoot cowboy matches. (\u201cCamelback Kid here, pleased to meet you, hombre.\u201d)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do have a\nfew approved masks but are saving them in case things get worse. Perhaps for an\ninterim solution I can dig out my sombrero, keep the bandanna, and become the\nFreako Bandito.  Unfortunately, the twin\nsingle action six-shooters in the cowboy belt and holsters aren\u2019t gonna be in\nthe wardrobe; open carry ain\u2019t legal where I am, and the public is nervous\nenough right now, anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With\napologies to movie director Stanley Kramer, \u201cIt\u2019s a Masked, Masked, Masked,\nMasked World.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, the\nbest thing about it is that my significant other, the Evil Princess, tells me I\nlook better with the mask on, so there\u2019s that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
