Going by the\nmotto \u201cthe best fiction is non-fiction,\u201d his 2019 novel \u201cGunmen\u201d weaves a tale\nof an American family whose men find themselves in harm\u2019s way with guns in\ntheir hands over a period of decades. \nTim cleverly works the classic guns of different times, and the methods\nof their use, with the rules and policies of law enforcement agencies of the\nrelevant periods and patterns of criminal behavior and criminal justice\nattitudes of the times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final product shows a picture of things as they were.\u00a0 You\u2019ll find some things that perhaps didn\u2019t happen, but could have \u2026 and some things that probably did happen, with \u201cthe names changed to protect the, uh, innocent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Overall, a\nfascinating read. You\u2019ll be reminded of a Leslie Poles Hartley quote\npopularized among gun people by the late Col. Jeff Cooper: \u201cThe past is another\ncountry. They do things differently there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
