I was an \u201cearly adopter\u201d of the semiautomatic police service pistol back in the early 1970s and still carry one as a primary self-defense handgun, but the revolver remains my choice as a backup gun for several reasons, which we can discuss at another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proper revolver handling is seen by some in my business as in danger of becoming a lost art.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I suspect anyone gun-savvy enough to be reading this blog in the first place knows enough not to use a wrist-twist to whip the cylinder into the frame (or worse, to whip it out, which bends the \u201ccrane\u201d that the cylinder rides on and ruins \u201ctiming,\u201d or alignment of cartridge chambers with barrels).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But there are some subtleties that a whole lot of revolver shooters\u00a0<em>don\u2019t\u00a0<\/em>understand, and my old friend Jerry Miculek \u2013 the undisputed top revolver shooter of our time, and probably of\u00a0<em>all\u00a0<\/em>time \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/XkWlIhaeuaY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discusses here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NEVER DO THIS....Revolver Edition\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XkWlIhaeuaY?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Jerry says that if you take care of your revolver, your revolver will take care of you.
