{"id":7391,"date":"2022-07-20T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/?p=7391"},"modified":"2022-07-16T21:25:30","modified_gmt":"2022-07-17T01:25:30","slug":"happy-birthday-to-who","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/happy-birthday-to-who\/","title":{"rendered":"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO \u2013 WHO?!?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Oh, wait\u2026it\u2019s&nbsp;<em>me!&nbsp;<\/em>74 revolutions around the sun today.&nbsp;&nbsp;Damn\u2026that happened quick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s been a fun ride. Some lives saved, some injuries prevented, some careers and futures I was privileged to have a part in rescuing in court.&nbsp;&nbsp;(Check out the one in the current issue of&nbsp;<em>American Handgunner<\/em>&nbsp;magazine. I was honestly proud to be a part of that action.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The age is showing, though. Gray hair and whiskers?&nbsp;&nbsp;Hell, I\u2019m just glad the&nbsp;<em>skin&nbsp;<\/em>hasn\u2019t turned gray yet.&nbsp;&nbsp;I get out of the shower, catch a glimpse in the mirror, and go \u201cAauugghh! My whole birthday suit is wrinkled!\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;My gluteus maximus has turned into a gluteus minimus.&nbsp;&nbsp;Nature has installed a speed governor on my body, which I didn\u2019t need because I didn\u2019t think I was ever that fast&nbsp;<em>before.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet for all that, I\u2019m happy that I can keep going. The Covid shutdown gave me a preview of retirement that made me shudder.&nbsp;&nbsp;The closest I get to being retired is getting tired over and over again.&nbsp;&nbsp;And I\u2019m not complaining about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two wonderful adult daughters of my own who continue to make me immensely proud, as do my stepdaughter and stepson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Four terrific grandkids of my own and five on my wife\u2019s side, plus two little great-grandsons from that side of the blended family. A wife I adore.&nbsp;&nbsp;I\u2019m happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And loyal readers whom I greatly appreciate. Thanks to all of you for being here. I always seem to be teaching on my birthday, which means there\u2019s always a gun in my hand for part of those days.
