Some 150 gunners attended.\u00a0\u00a0It was the 30<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the event. It began in 1975 when Richard Davis invited some 26 friends to shoot bowling pins off simple tables.\u00a0\u00a0It was <a href=\"https:\/\/americanhandgunner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/AHJF77.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">written up in gun magazines<\/a>, and the following year it was opened to police officers everywhere. I was there and loved it, and have been shooting it ever since. Originally called the Second Chance Shoot, named after Richard\u2019s company which manufactured the concealed body armor he pioneered, it ran through 1998. In 2017, it was reincarnated as The Pin Shoot and has been running annually ever since.\u00a0\u00a0I can proudly say I\u2019ve been to 29 of the 30, all but the seminal one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Second Chance Combat Shoot 1986\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mh_DyN96_8I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>or watch <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mh_DyN96_8I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video here<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For the last couple of years, the Shoot has been generously sponsored by Springfield Armory, and their brand predominates among the dozens and dozens of guns that fill the prize tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are events for semi-automatic pistols and for revolvers. Shotgun events with 00 or larger buckshot, or slugs. Pistol-caliber carbine and rifle caliber carbine. They even provide sighted-in Ruger 10\/22 scoped rifles and S&amp;W ten-shot K-22 revolvers for rimfire events. You can enter two- and three-person teams.
