The reason was that he\u2019d been able to round up 500 rounds of .40 S&amp;W, but shooting it up would leave his practice ammo supply severely depleted. I told him that part of what he was learning with me was rapid fire recoil control, and he\u2019d do better to shoot with the \u201creal deal.\u201d (Conversion units for inexpensive .22 are great for developing trigger control, though, and \u201cdraw to the shot\u201d smoothness with accuracy.)<\/p>\n<p>Yes, the ammo shortage continues, and it has generated much discussion among gun folks. My good friend Jon Strayer has some very insightful comments on the reasons for it <a href=\"http:\/\/proarmsinc.com\/newsandviews\/2010\/03\/04\/state-of-the-ammunition-by-john-strayer\/\" target=\"_blank\">HERE<\/a>, at the ProArms News and Views Blog.<\/p>\n<p>Friend Ted Fries passes along <a href=\"http:\/\/pajamasmedia.com\/blog\/the-ammo-shortage-continues\/\" target=\"_blank\">THIS<\/a> commentary\u00a0 from a blog with which I was previously unfamiliar.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m finding somewhat more availability than this time last year with SOME cartridges, while others &#8212; .45 ACP, for instance \u2013 are simply not to be found in certain areas.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s all y\u2019all\u2019s take on this?
