I don\u2019t think that\u2019s the best advice, and I may have been the first advocate of what is now known as \u201cthe brief statement,\u201d going back to the early 1980s when I started teaching lethal force principles to law-abiding private citizens at Lethal Force Institute. (I now teach it nationwide through\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/massadayoobgroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/massadayoobgroup.com<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve discussed this matter before, <a href=\"https:\/\/athlonoutdoors.com\/article\/learn-what-to-say-to-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">but it bears repeating<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0It appeared recently in the now-online magazine from Athlon Publishing,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/athlonoutdoors.com\/tag\/combat-handguns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Combat Handguns<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>where I\u2019ve written the <a href=\"https:\/\/athlonoutdoors.com\/?s=self+defense+and+the+law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Self-Defense and the Law<\/a> column for many, many years now.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, your comments are welcome.
