JOHN BENNER"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Grim Reaper continues to decimate the ranks of great firearms instructors. My old friend John Benner, founder and head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdiohio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tactical Defense Institute<\/a> in Ohio, has passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a long and distinguished record in law enforcement and SWAT, John\u2019s school hosted many of today\u2019s leading instructors and of course, he was a great teacher in his own right. A strong advocate of armed faculty as a bulwark against \u201cschool shooters,\u201d John was a prime mover in <a href=\"https:\/\/fastersaveslives.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FASTER<\/a>, Ohio\u2019s role model program for training such personnel. FASTER stands for Faculty\/Administrator Safety Training &amp; Emergency Response. It has proven hugely successful.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you own the popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kabar.com\/p\/1480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TDI self-defense knife from KaBar<\/a>, you are carrying a John Benner design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll never know how many lives this good man\u2019s work has saved and how much tragedy he has prevented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are diminished.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Grim Reaper continues to decimate the ranks of great firearms instructors.
