{"id":8921,"date":"2025-09-05T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/?p=8921"},"modified":"2025-08-26T13:47:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T17:47:12","slug":"the-american-sherlock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.backwoodshome.com\/blogs\/MassadAyoob\/the-american-sherlock\/","title":{"rendered":"THE AMERICAN SHERLOCK"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On a recent plane flight, I enjoyed reading Kate Winkler Dawson\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4lIdDAV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Sherlock: Murder, Forensics, and the birth of American CSI<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crime Scene Investigation is a constantly evolving field and one with which those of us \u201cin the business\u201d need to stay current. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4lIdDAV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Sherlock<\/a>\u201d is an apt title for Dawson\u2019s biography of pioneering evidence analyst Oscar Heinrich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing I\u2019ve found in my own career is that hard scientific evidence usually trumps \u201che said\/she said\u201d witness testimony. Heinrich\u2019s career proved it long before I came along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4lIdDAV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Sherlock<\/a>\u201d is an excellent read. I am sad that I found it on remainder at a Books-A-Million.
