GUN CONTROL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BELLEVUE, WA \u2013 American gun owners got quite a chuckle nine months ago when California Gov. Gavin Newsom was gifted a Sig Sauer P365-Xmacro pistol while appearing on podcaster Shawn Ryan\u2019s Tennessee-based program, and their amusement is continuing as media reports note the far-left Democrat still can\u2019t get his pistol because of Golden State gun control laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms says it is \u201conly justice\u201d that Newsom\u2014who has lobbied for and signed virtually every gun control law landing on his desk\u2014cannot take possession of the firearm because of legislation he and his Democrat colleagues in Sacramento have enacted over the years. According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/08\/us-news\/newsoms-gun-laws-complicate-firearm-gift-from-podcaster-shawn-ryan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Post<\/a>, there are several roadblocks in the governor\u2019s way, including:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The pistol must be shipped from a federally licensed firearms dealer in Tennessee to a licensed dealer in California.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Newsom must obtain a Firearm Safety Certificate and to do that he must take a class and pass a test with at least a 75% score.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He must have a state-approved lock box or some other approved locking device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He must fill out the necessary paperwork (Federal Form 4473), pass a background check and endure the state\u2019s 10-day waiting period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGov. Newsom might use this as a learning experience,\u201d said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. \u201cThat is, if he actually wants the pistol. Last year, he told Ryan that he is not really \u2018anti-gun,\u2019 even though everything he has said and done in office has certainly pointed in that direction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re beginning to wonder if Gavin is worried he might not pass the firearms safety test, or get through the background check,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhat\u2019s the holdup, Governor Newsom? Just think about the future. You can campaign for the White House like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, telling everyone you\u2019re a gun owner, and then you could say you were treated like a criminal, the way every other California citizen is treated when they want to purchase a gun.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cC\u2019mon, Gavin,\u201d Gottlieb concluded. \u201cIt\u2019s time to get your gat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation&#8217;s premier gun rights organizations.
