Sunrise over Highway 101

Friday, July 12th, 2013

On Sunday, June 30th, I picked up my friend, Jaime Yager, from her home in Gold Beach, Oregon, and she and I were driving to Port Orford to have breakfast, at the Paradise Café. It was a foggy morning and somewhere on our drive we stopped so she could have a cigarette and so her dog, Nonamé, could go potty.

We were standing beside the car when Jaime said, “Look!”

I looked east, over Highway 101, and saw trees on the hill across the road, silhouetted against the disk of the rising sun.

I got my camera, “Chloe,” from the backseat and took these photos.

You might think the photos were Photoshopped, and I did crop and sharpen them, but they’re the actual silhouettes Jaime and I saw.

You can’t see the hill the trees are on because the fog was so thick. But it’s there.
