A banner ad can let interested folks know about your product, service, or website and lead them there. What it cannot do is sell them the product or service, induce them to sign up for something, or anything else. Only your landing page and any supporting pages can do any of that.
Too often, advertisers spend time and money creating great ads that generate hundreds or thousands of clicks but give little or no thought to what will actually make the prospective customer want to buy. The Internet is not a "Field of Dreams." Just because you offer it does not mean anyone will buy it.
What if people are clicking on the banner but nobody is buying anything?
You need to figure out why. A consult with your local advertising/marketing consultant/agency may be in order.
How are ads sold?
All banner runs are sold on a calendar month basis. Runs beginning other than the first of the month end on the corresponding day of the following month.
How are ads displayed on this site?
Right-side banners are displayed in random order every time a page on which they appear is called by a visitor. Note that short pages display only a portion of the banners, randomly selected. On long pages, like the Home page and many article pages, all banners are shown each time the page is called.
What if I want a text link instead of a banner?
We do not accept text ads. Nor do we accept any keyword, content, or in-line advertising of any kind.
How will we know if people are clicking on my ad?
Because of the way Right-side banenrs are served, we are not able to track clicks. We recommend you track traffic from backwoodshome.com or set up a special landing page for your clicks on your Right-side banner.
May we have more than one banner at a time showing?
Yes, you may purchase multiple right-side banner slots.

Right-column banners currently appear on most pages of our website. During the previous three calendar months, each right-column banner was shown about 862,252 times. (+/- 1%)
Banners are displayed in random order which changes with each page display.
Short pages display a randomly selected number of banners to fit page.

BHM is undergoing a redesign. When implemented in the coming months, the size of right-side banners will increse from 160x160 to 300x100. Please prepare and submit banners of both sizes so your banner run will not be interrupted when the changeover occurs.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover/Novus, or American Express credit cards when you place your order or you may mail your payment using a personal or company check or a bank or postal money order made out to Backwoods Home Magazine. Mail payment to: Backwoods Home Magazine, P.O. Box 712, Gold Beach, OR 97444.
Please note that checks/money orders must arrive and clear prior to banners running online.
What about the actual banner?
Banner ads cannot sell your product or service. Only your landing page and website can do that.
The sole purpose of your banner is to get potential customers to click on your ad and go to your website. If you annoy them or make them work too hard to read too much, they will often ignore the banner. Simple, quick-to-read ads with a call-to-action (Click Here, Read More, Learn More, etc.) tend to get the best response. Please keep that in mind when designing your banner.
Maximum file size: 60 KB
Graphics should be correctly sized in .GIF, .PNG, or .JPG format. If simple resizing is required, there will be an additional charge of $20.00 per graphic. Any additional editing required is billed at $90.00 per hour.
Use unique file names, such as:
yourcompanyname_1.gif
DO NOT NAME THEM ad1.gif, banner.jpg, or the like. If you do, they might get lost or overwritten.
