Yep, at the risk of sounding same old same old, we got another 14 inches of snow with 40 mph wind. Now the temp’s going down way below zero this whole week! This is getting really tiresome! And to top it off, our water line from the well froze. So we’re out of running water for about 6 weeks. At first it seemed horrible. But, hey, we’ve lived where we never had running water at all. So we sucked it up and started melting snow for flushing the toilet and washing hands. And on trips to town, I come back past a flowing spring and fill water jugs for drinking and cooking water. Heck, it could be worse. We’re warm, have plenty of food, and the critters have plenty of feed. We’ll get by just fine but still hope for an early spring.

Snow-chores

Meanwhile, it gives Will and me more time to work inside. We’ve been cleaning and hauling furniture out of the living room, dining room, and entryway in preparation for laying the laminate flooring.

Cleaning

We do chores, shovel, and snow blow to clear paths and clear around equipment, then we come inside to work, taking a “break.” Hey, it’s working. — Jackie

    Unfortunately, we have no maples. Boo hoo. But if we did, the snow’s four feet deep in the woods and Will would have to bulldoze a trail. And with it -25 with a -40 wind chill, we probably wouldn’t anyway and wait for a better winter.

  2. To: Jackie, Will, and all critters. We are praying for all of you! Thank goodness for the spring and all the things you do have – hopefully this will turn around soon and get lots better!

  4. Feeling the pain with you Jackie… we still have water, but the cold and snow is getting alittle bit crazy. The roads in the the cities are just awful…snow.ice packed and dumb drivers… not a good mix. I guess the blessing in all of this is that there is plenty of snow to melt this year, and you guys put up plenty of wood! Also, I did some of the pork steaks the other night… very tender and tasty. Take care and in alittle more than a week, we go on Daylight saving time…maybe that will help.

  6. Jackie and Wil……No water for 6 weeks….I sure hope spring comes early….here in Arizona we had no rain for at least 68 days and it has been in the 80’s…I had the flu twice this year…all the tourist are here and bringing their sickness with them….Just stay warm and we all are praying for you.

  7. Oh my gosh, Jackie, that is horrible. Take my electric but don’t take my water. You must have to haul a lot of water for household use and animals. I’ll keep you in our prayers.

  8. I’m so sorry that you guys can’t get a break from the cold and snow.I know that hauling water is a PAIN in several places,lol. Maybe by the time Spring finally arrives you will have the the floors done and catch up on some of those little inside projects that are always pop up. snuggle up by the fire for a while and read one of your “little house” books.,while dreaming of sunshine and warm breezes.
