Old friend and 2A warrior Alan Gottlieb pokes some fun at the anti-gun Governor of California.  Verbatim, below:

GAVIN’S GAT TRAPPED IN TENNESSEE, A VICTIM OF CAL. GUN CONTROL

BELLEVUE, WA – American gun owners got quite a chuckle nine months ago when California Gov. Gavin Newsom was gifted a Sig Sauer P365-Xmacro pistol while appearing on podcaster Shawn Ryan’s Tennessee-based program, and their amusement is continuing as media reports note the far-left Democrat still can’t get his pistol because of Golden State gun control laws.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms says it is “only justice” that Newsom—who has lobbied for and signed virtually every gun control law landing on his desk—cannot take possession of the firearm because of legislation he and his Democrat colleagues in Sacramento have enacted over the years. According to the New York Post, there are several roadblocks in the governor’s way, including:

  • The pistol must be shipped from a federally licensed firearms dealer in Tennessee to a licensed dealer in California.
  • Newsom must obtain a Firearm Safety Certificate and to do that he must take a class and pass a test with at least a 75% score.
  • He must have a state-approved lock box or some other approved locking device.
  • He must fill out the necessary paperwork (Federal Form 4473), pass a background check and endure the state’s 10-day waiting period.

“Gov. Newsom might use this as a learning experience,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “That is, if he actually wants the pistol. Last year, he told Ryan that he is not really ‘anti-gun,’ even though everything he has said and done in office has certainly pointed in that direction.

“We’re beginning to wonder if Gavin is worried he might not pass the firearms safety test, or get through the background check,” he continued. “What’s the holdup, Governor Newsom? Just think about the future. You can campaign for the White House like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, telling everyone you’re a gun owner, and then you could say you were treated like a criminal, the way every other California citizen is treated when they want to purchase a gun.

“C’mon, Gavin,” Gottlieb concluded. “It’s time to get your gat.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

  1. Gavin “I’m as stupid as you are” Newscum deserves all the ridicule he gets. The scary thing is that he may very well be our next President.

  2. Most leftists are totally incompetent when it comes to guns. Judging from their continual gaffs, many don’t know the first thing about firearms. All they know is that they loath and fear them and that they think everyone, except their own bodyguards, should be disarmed.

My fear is that, if Gavin Newsom actually received this pistol, he would pull an “Alec Baldwin”. The gun might, mysteriously, discharge (without his finger even being on the trigger!) and shoot some poor, hapless staffer.

Maybe it is a good thing that this firearms is kept away from Newsom’s hands by his own actions.

  3. With all the firepower babysitting him every hour of the day he doesn’t need one. He obviously does not know how to handle one. At 4:00 into the interview, he is gifted the Sig but never clears it
and muzzles himself several times before putting it back in the box.
Thankfully he’s on his way out and if there’s any justice left here in California Bianco will help set us back on track.

    • Betcha when he leaves office he’ll quietly have it sent to a dealer and finish the paperwork, assuming of course that he can. I have friends and family in that state and really hope things get better soon.

  4. “The pistol must be shipped from a federally licensed firearms dealer in Tennessee to a licensed dealer in California.”
No, anybody (e.g. one of Ryan’s staffers) can ship it to the dealer in California. But they’ll need to ship it by common carrier (UPS or FedEx or DHL) because USPS prohibits pistols. And the dealer in California must hold both Federal and State licenses.

  5. Since he’s obviously neglecting to obtain it, may I please have it? I’ll give it a very good home, where it is well-cared-for and appreciated :-).

  6. We should remember that Democrat professional bureaucrats truly are not anti-gun, they are anti-gun-owners. It’s us the fear and hate. They are able to tell the gospel truth when they claim to have nothing against guns.

  7. The sad dose of Hilarity, is that we who live in California, live under his rule and can only wonder if our next Governor can be worse.

  8. I wonder what might come out if he steps up to do the transaction as required by law? I do know that quite a few of the more, shall we say, extreme, antis have guns hidden away but (well) within reach.

  9. I still remember back in the day during one of California’s riot seasons wen people were going into un stores to buy protection, only to find out about the 4473, waiting periods, etc.

They were all like, “Wait! What? Guns *aren’t* as easy to buy as cars?”

    • I’ve been seeing all over social media, Leftists saying something like, “Hey, ‘pro-[voter]-ID’ conservatives, what if we required ID to buy a gun? Does that sound okay to you?”

And the overwhelming response is something like, “Uhhh… Who wants to tell them?”

      😀

  10. This is wonderful news. I’m surprised Gavin hasn’t pulled rank on whoever is holding up the process. He will probably send one of his LEO bodyguards to pick it up, then skip the paperwork part. “Hey, I’m the governor. I don’t have to follow the same rules as the little people.”

  11. “Gov. Newsom might use this as a learning experience,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “That is, if he actually wants the pistol. Last year, he told Ryan that he is not really ‘anti-gun,’ even though everything he has said and done in office has certainly pointed in that direction.”

To be fair, Gavin Newsom really isn’t “anti-gun.” He’s perfectly content with guns under his control and direction, like those on CA LEOs’ belts.

    IOW, he’s not anti-gun, just anti-your-gun.

  12. The author missed perhaps the most unique and offensive piece of CA law that would prohibit the Governor from lawfully taking possession of the gun.

CA serfs . . I mean Citizens can only purchase handguns from an approved roster. Through 2/2025 the 365 was not on the state roster.

Since state law requires a magazine disconnect, the only way for it to get on the roster would be if Sig made a CA specific version. Either way, the version gifted to Newsom wouldn’t comply.

So. Not only would the Governor need to jump through hoops to purchase any gun. THIS gun could NEVER lawfully be transferred to him.
