Thanks to all who voted! You made a difference.
Republican control of both houses of Congress is huge for all in the gun owners’ civil rights movement. The key thing from my point of view is Congressional approval of Federal judges and particularly new Supreme Court justices the lame duck anti-gun President is expected to appoint in the next two years. The specter of Eric Holder sitting on the Supreme Court is no longer something we need to shudder before.
On local fronts, Charlie Crist, a waffler on more than the gun issue and an opponent of Stand Your Ground rights, missed his Bloomberg-funded bid to topple pro-gun Florida Governor Scott, and Illinois gun owners will be better off with their new Republican governor than they were under the ferociously anti-gun Pat Quinn. A Republican governor has to be an improvement for gun owners in Maryland, too.
Election Day made another specter, that of President Hillary Clinton, a little less substantial. According to TV reports this morning, more than 30 of the Democrats she and her husband campaigned for were trounced.
There were disappointments, though. In Colorado, Governor Hickenlooper managed to stay in office by less than 1.5% of the vote, thanks to a heavy turnout from the Yuppie enclaves, despite it being proven in public that he had lied to his constituents and his state’s own sheriffs about his ill-conceived, Bloomberg-inspired “assault weapons ban.” And, in a triumph of Bloomberg purchasing power and propaganda that would have made Goebbels weep in envy, Washington state voters approved the egregious 594 initiative criminalizing ordinary lending of guns between law-abiding people.
Looking at it as a gun owner, I’m not so much into the Republican versus Democrat thing. I’m a registered Independent, and in most elections vote for candidates from both parties according to the individual rather than the party. Yet we can’t escape the fact that the Democratic Party itself has published strong anti-gun planks, and the Republican Party has not. I’ll take a proven pro-gun “D” over a waffling or unproven “R” anytime, but the Republican sweep is, in toto, something our side has every right to celebrate.
And in the People’s Republic of Kalifornia, the Caliban remain in power.
Hooray! We have gotten rid of our Governor Quinn. He still hasn’t given his defeated speech. He keeps hoping that the Chicago machine can find some votes.
Hooray! The mailman brought me my copy of “Deadly Force” today. Mas, I can’t imagine you watching that crappy Alien movie. I thought I was the only one!

The real test will be in 2 years, a lot of (R) seats up for re-election, and Hillary with a bunch of large, liberal state electoral college votes in a de-facto lock, and you can expect Bloomberg to try and repeat his Washington win in Nevada, Arizona, and Maine.

Sigh…here in the People’s Republic of Connecticut our Democrat governor Malloy still has a job, as does Rosa DeLauro my so-called “Representative”. And Teddy Kennedy Jr. is now a state congressman.
The wife and I used to joke that our votes canceled each other out, but in this state it wouldn’t matter if I never voted again.
The Nutmeg State will get the government it deserves, but I wish that it didn’t take me down with it.

We in Washington State are quite concerned with the passage of I-594. I fear Oregon is next. This is going to be the litmus test for Bloomberg and friends to try to force this on more states, since that can’t succeed at the national level.

Sadly NY State elected King Cuomo again. Browsing thru the Board of Elections breakdown by county, nearly every county in NY (total of 62) proved to be a close one or a win for Rob Astorino (pro-gun). Just 5 counties of NY and 1 county of Buffalo gave 70 and 80 percent votes for Cuomo. Hence he gets 4 more years.
As for Hickenlooper, wondering if a recall might be re-mounted shortly to see if he might be tossed out.

Funny that in Colorado, those yuppies didn’t vote for Udall, and the US House lost snarling leftist Andrew Romanoff.
Under current elections laws in Colorado, the Gang of Four needs the governors office much more than the Sec of State.

I’m glad about the overall victory but to those of us behind the lines in CT things are still very dark

On the national level, I used to vote for the “best” candidate but it turns out that a member of the bad party, no matter what a good guy he is, is adding strength to the bad guys.
I sure hope the Republicans are already working hard to keep their majority in the Senate 2 years from now, we CANNOT afford to lose it.

And here in the Unconstitution State, the sheeple have reelected the same turds we had yesterday. Good showing for the Republican, but not enough. Counting days and packing boxes.

The Hallelujah Chorus has been playing on loop-back all day at our house. Now our representatives, of every party, need to live up to their responsibilities to direct our economic recovery and reestablish both our national pride and our nations respect that has been lost to the rest of the world. It would be nice if they could expect help from the Executive branch in this effort but that would be a wish wasted.

Had the privilege of meeting with Governor Rick Scott last week and personally thanked him for his pro gun second ammenment laws he has passed in Florida, the most any Govenenor ever did in four years. Thank the good citizens of Florida giving Scott four more years and not electing liberal anti gun Charlie Crisp who recently took money from Bloomberg movement as well numerous anti gun groups. Stand Your Ground in Florida was also a campaign promise to eliminate and magazine size bans… It’s a relief were not having to deal with this anti gun garbage again, instead we get to enjoy our 2nd ammenment rights.
Yesterday was a huge win for all gun owners no doubt yesterday.

Sad day for Washingtonians! Populated west side controls state voting. My guess is the majority didn’t even read the details of 594. Another “feel good” legislation that you have to pass to see what is in it. No one has been able to tell me how 594 will change criminal behavior. Local law enforcement doesn’t even see 594 as a enforcement priority! Two violations and a previous law abiding gun owner becomes a felon and the criminal’s life goes unchanged – go figure.

As I understand it 594 relates to the “sale and transfer of guns” off the record rather than the lending of guns. ??????

Surprisingly it was not just the Washington State west siders who vote yes on I-594, Spokane County voted yes too. Also no on the pro gun I-591. I have been on the fence about moving, but this vote just helped me make up my mind to move 2 miles east into Idaho.

While we may have a little breathing room we can’t let our guard down.

That is what I read too Judy. I don’t live in Washington so it is really none of my business but this is what I pulled up:
Reasonable Exceptions – background checks are not required for:
•Gifts between immediate family members
•Antiques and relics
•Temporary transfers for self-defense
•Loans for lawful hunting or sporting activities
Is this true?

Judy, FYI, 594 leaves the word transfer quite vague. If you take your significant other to the range and let them shoot your gun; a trip by you to the bathroom, with your SO holding your gun, could make you both guilty of a class C felony.
The big question here is who will enforce what aspects of the law. And what’s really sad, is that all the people i shoot with demand that whoever buys their firearms has a CCL.

Judy,
Transfer in I 594 specifically includes loans.
(25) “Transfer” means the intended delivery of a firearm to another person without consideration of payment or promise of payment including, but not limited to, gifts and loans.
Mas,
I 594 was not only a Bloomberg sponsored initiative. Paul Allen donated $500,000 and Bill gates donated $1 million. I think Bloomberg put in a little over $2 million.
