The AR15 is the most popular rifle in America today, and certainly the most controversial. I bet we all know someone who just bought their first one.
An ideal companion to the rifle would be a book about its history and use. I recommend “AR-15: A Citizen’s Guide to America’s Rifle.” I’ve known the author, Frank Sharpe, for many years. He has trained with me and many, many others and in turn has become an outstanding instructor himself.
His book covers safe and efficient use of the AR. How to shoot it, how to clean it, how to sight it in, how to accessorize it and more.

I believe that if it weren’t for all the politicians’ efforts to demonize & ban AR-15s & other semi-automatic rifles there would be millions fewer in circulation today. Few people in the 1980s wanted them. Way to go Bush I, Clinton & Obama, greatest gun salesmen in history.

Having used some version of the AR design for way longer than I want to think about, there’s more misinformation about the item than any other firearm I can think of. An authoritative source of correct information is a GREAT thing.
For those thinking of acquiring one, it’s OK to be cost conscious, don’t be cheap. Also don’t build your own. Responsible factories have QA/QC departments to make sure the parts meet specifications and they can enforce compliance. They also have jigs for certain operations that make sure the parts are where they need to be. They also have warranties. You don’t.

I recently bought my first too, at the recommendation of a good friend who’s a retired LVMPD Sgt, so thanks for the recommendation Mas. I used to have a Mini-14 which I loved but got rid of it when the antis took over my then country of residence.
