More anti-gun strangeness.  The anti-gun media salivates over the thought that a gun enthusiast might be trying to kill President Obama, Mayor Bloomberg, et. al. with ricin…until it is discovered that the suspect’s estranged (and just plain strange) wife is the culprit.  And whaddaya know, there are indications that she’s vehemently anti-gun.  See here: http://weaponsman.com/?p=9018&utm_source=feedly

Meanwhile, an avowed anti-gunner decides that she will arm herself, using all deliberate ignorance and irresponsibility, in hopes of showing that knowledgeable and responsible gun-wearers must be as ignorant and irresponsible as she.  Follow the continuing saga of stupidity here: http://msmagazine.com/blog/2013/06/12/my-month-with-a-gun-week-one/

I haven’t checked the new DSM-5 to see if they’ve categorized neurofeces (shit for brains). However, we seem to already have a couple of poster children for a prevention campaign.

  1. “I haven’t checked the new DSM-5 to see if they’ve categorized neurofeces (shit for brains). However, we seem to already have a couple of poster children for a prevention campaign.”

Priceless. Just priceless. We now have added a new word to our vocabulary; the first “gunny” word since hoplophobia.

  2. Neurofeces would be the peripheral nervous system . Better would be cerebralfeces. In any event they do fulfill the criteria for the diagnosis.

  3. The first article seems to a case of the over eager anti-media wanting to leap to the comclusion that a “Gun Owner” sent the poison to Obama.

Think the second article was an anti-gun female hoping to prove it is far to easy for a stupid person to obtian a CCW permit, and to buy a gun.

Of course, she could have asked the gun dealer to explain the basic safety precautions, and handling of the Glock, when she bought it, but it sounded far more damatic and stupid, to go out on the street, and scare a Cop with her Glock, than to have done it the easy way?

Good on the Officer, for not shooting her, and he too, sounds quite pre-gun, from her comments about owning the same pistol too.

  4. Wow, her article is very nearly total garbage. Exaggeration and misinformation, but her replies to comments people leave are what really show what’s going on.

One point she keeps bringing up is that people can buy guns without knowing how to safely use them (and she equates ‘safely’ with ‘responsibly’ which are not the same thing). This seems to upset her a lot. I wanted to reply to her article myself, but I refuse to register on a site like that just to offer a rebuttal she would ignore anyway.

I wanted to to say that people buy *cars* without knowing how to use them responsibly (and there is no check at the dealer to see if you are competent), and they have *kids* without any kind of check to see if they are responsible parents…

  5. Here have case one those people need prove her point so bad that goes deliberty out does wrong make feeble minded attemp make people do right look bad. I am sure when she done she goes police gun back turn glock for next nothing declairs world it much safer be with out gun. If she want prove jump off bridge is bad for you all got bridge for her jump off from.

  6. heidi’s article (2nd link) is absurd. sadly she thinks that her stupidity is cute; and if she does something senseless her point is: see? someone should have stopped me — crazy!

i posted a comment there. let’s see if it get’s published.

  7. WOW! She has no idea what she is doing, just to “prove” a point. I hope she doesn’t open carry, that would likely get her in real trouble. Or, carry it empty, etc. I am sure however that many will think here heroic. I wonder if she will take some classes, she should, otherwise her exercise really is pointless.

  8. God forbid that women would ever have to actually use that firearm to protect herself from a violent attacker, but it makes me wonder if an event like that would change her position on guns.

  9. She thought the gun she just bought was sold to her chambered and ready to go. Really?
She wasn’t watching when Tony showed (should have) her the gun was empty before he handed it to her?
I bet anything she never even loaded a mag up.
Are there really any states that will give you a CWP without at least an NRA course?

  10. I left this comment at the Ms site but they refuse to approve it.

What u anti self defense types don’t attempt understand and what u r missing the point of is that people don’t use this same process, your argument is irrelevant as it doesn’t represent firearms owners. Gun owners are generally introduced to firearms through experienced family members or friends, many of which are vets with combat experience. People who have decided to carry a firearm already have a gun or have a good idea of what they want and have done their research. I understand the point u r trying to make but your point is moot, your point also illustrates your ignorance of our culture. Here is how I came to concealed carry2007- got out of the Navy. I received some very high quality training in CQB. So to think I or other vets don’t have training is incompetent. Many vets have more training than the police.2009- bought a Glock 22 (40 S&W caliber) because I foresaw him trying to ban guns that he didn’t like. I came to this conclusion based on his voting record as a anti self defense senator.2010- I realized shooting was a ton fun and then bought a AR15. Great gun, easy to shoot and one of the best options for defending your family. Don’t let anyone tell u otherwise.2012- got my concealed carry permit because I figured why not. It’s better to have it and not need it than need and not have it. I’m the type of guy u want in that movie theater when the shiza goes down and so r most other vets. Im just another good guy that wants to help and there’s nothing wrong with that.2013- I carry everywhere, even while at home. And by the way, I carry whether they have a no guns sign or not; it’s not against the law. Please have a good understanding of firearms and their owners before u write this type of stuff.Reply

  11. I couldn’t resist leaving some unsolicited advice as a comment on the MS article. “Madam. If you don’t want to shoot any children, then don’t point your gun at them.” KISS principle and all….

  12. Here is my reply to the article:

    Jack,
” Unrealistic article with the outcome already determined from the beginning. Please prove me wrong.”

I think that is the premise of the article. The author skipped from Step 1 to Step 5 to prove that Starbucks’ policy of abiding by state firearms laws is dangerous. Having passed an NICS check the author was legally able to purchase a firearm. It’s her right; and along with that right comes the responsibility to exercise it responsibly. You have the right of free speech, but you are responsible for your words. Should the author seek additional training? That goes without saying.

Your analogy to purchasing a vehicle is right on. Today you have to have a license and proof of insurance to drive off the lot with your new car. Nowhere in the contract is there a records check to see if you actually drive. You meet the minimum requirement to make the purchase. The rest is on you. In 2009, according to the federal census, some 33.000 people died in motor vehicle accidents, yet everybody who applies for a license has to pass a driving test. How many of us have taken any defensive driving training beyond our road tests? (in full disclosure I have not, though it is on my syllabus)

This looks like the first of future articles of the authors experience. Let’s see what that brings.

  13. I just posted the below at the site – it’s awaiting moderation (we’ll see how that goes!)

Attention Darwin Awards-your candidate has arrived!

What can one say but…WOW. I think you’ve probably covered every stereotype of a clueless anti-gun / 2nd amendment, emotional train wreck that a lot of gun owners think those that hate inanimate objects are!
Can you spell Hoplophobia, boyz and gurlz?

    Let me see:
    1. Totally clueless about guns & self defense (but that doesn’t stop her from pontificating).
    2. Apparently got all her knowledge about guns from Hollywood. (An earth shattering explosion from shooting your car?).
Don’t forget, even though FBI statistics show it takes an average of 3 shots to stop a home invasion, Hollywood tells us that with only ONE shot, the criminal will be knocked off his feet, fly backwards across a few rooms, and through the nearest plate glass window!

Methinks the cop’s assessment of you was correct – maybe next time you’ll get a little more “service” from that public servant if you run at him wildly flailing your gun above your head, shouting I HAVE A GUN, I HAVE A GUN!
I’m sure at that point he’ll be more than happy to show you exactly how a gun works…

What’s that Bill Engvall says…”Here’s your sign!”

  14. where’s the zombie apocalypse when you need it? the number of freedom haters in america is too damn high!

  15. Re first article: it is rather common for defendants to claim that they were framed but rarely is that true. As with the earlier ricin case, it appears to be the case again with this attention seeking soon to be ex wife hoplophobe (husband filed for divorce).

Second article, did you notice that most of the statistics cited are bogus and have as a source from the VPC–Brady Bunch–uncited of course. I really love uncited statistics found somewhere on the internet as they make the point that there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

  16. Responsible women everywhere must be shaking their heads in shame. The author HAS to be blonde.

    🙂

  17. “I haven’t checked the new DSM-5 to see if they’ve categorized neurofeces (shit for brains). However, we seem to already have a couple of poster children for a prevention campaign.”
Neurofeces! Mad you owe me a keyboard, I just spat my coffee all over it! Lol

  18. Lee, I wouldn’t approve that either. It fails basic rules of English writing and grammar. In short, use ‘you’ instead of ‘u’ , ‘are’ instead of ‘r’ unless you are texting your buddies, or you will not be taken seriously.

  19. Heidi is scary. She can buy a gun {thankfully she was too stupid to ask for cartridges to go along with that evil gun}, she can buy a 2,000 pound, high-velocity car, she can give birth to humanoids and even be a parental unit, and she can VOTE! People like this cannot be trusted with self-government. They need a dictator. I could blame government schools for Heidi’s problem, but too many parents abandon their responsibility to teach their children, and leave it all up to the teachers. Dr. Benjamin Spock was wrong.

    Richard,

I like what you have to say, but I have a hard time reading what you type. Could you dictate your message to someone else at the keyboard?

  20. I put in a comment too but it was also ignored. BTW Mas, your book “In the Gravest Extreme” is one that was recommended to me if I was going to consider carrying. Any chance you can get it re-published as a kindle book? My overfilled and groaning paper bookcases would appreciate it. As is I don’t have it because I’m on a paper book buying moratorium.

  21. BaaBaa, I’m no longer in contact with that publishing house, but you can write them yourself and make the suggestion.

  22. Thank you, I’ve sent the kindle request.

BTW this is my comment on your second link that is still waiting for moderation over there.

    Your comment is awaiting moderation.

I applaud you for at least considering the gun owners side. However, I am upset that you seem to have already made up your mind that all guns are bad. A gun is a complex powerful tool, even the simplest revolver comes with an owners manual that provides a lot of information about how to safely operate the tool. I do hope with a Glock especially that you took the time to read the owners manual and to practice the cleaning and reassembly instructions therein. I would not have chosen that as a first time handgun but that is me. The bigger issue is whether it fits your hands and you can use it properly. You need to practice, you don’t jump into a race car and expect to be able to drive in the Indy 500.

I echo the voices that suggest training but I also understand that under the rules you have set for yourself you will only do the minimum that is required. However your 4 rules are in conflict with each other. You cannot both do only the minimum and also be prepared to use the gun to defend yourself. You need to know how you will handle the situations that are likely to cause you to need to defend yourself and have thought out your preferred responses. So if you are truly expecting to fulfill item number 4 then you must also realize that you are in need of training to be properly able to use your firearm safely to both yourself and the people around you and more importantly know when NOT to use it.

I won’t comment on the lack of an external safety on the Glocks vs other choices. My own revolver also does not have any safety. It’s a double action only revolver. I chose it specifically because I know that when my vision has narrowed, my hands are shaking from adrenalin, my body is in fight mode because flight was impossible and I have to use my firearm to defend my life or that of a loved one that I want to be sure that if I have determined that deadly force is the only thing that will save me my firearm will go bang for sure when I pull the trigger.

Your experience, while interesting does not reflect accurately on the millions of people who have chosen to get a concealed carry license or who carry openly. I would urge you to join and log on to the Smith and Wesson forum and look up the threads on the Mexican Restaurant to get a feeling for what really happens when anti-gun people approach the whole issue of carrying firearms in public with a truly open mind. I think you might learn something.

Oh and I hope to see you out on the range, practicing with your handgun. You might figure out that it is even fun to improve your skills and will almost certainly gain confidence in how to properly use your firearm.

  23. MS magazine is definitely censoring comments. date-stamps jump from midday Jun 17th to the 19th. what a shame. i imagine they received a ton of posts from gun-rite activists in between.

  24. FYI, Marty Hayes has attempted to reach Heidi Yewman(who apparently lives not too far from the Firearms Academy of Seattle) with an offer of free training in the use of her new gun – surprise, surprise, he has not received a response…

  25. I replied that she had already broken her fourth rule, be prepared to defend herself at home and in public. Preparation requires training.

And that, furthermore, those who spout off about the “dangers” of gun ownersship indicate their mental laziness or inability to research a serious subject.

Apparently, it didn’t qualify for posting.

  26. I too left a very polite comment about how wrong it is to take rights from those who follow the law because of those who don’t. The comment actually made it through moderation but then was removed in less than a day. This is a prevalent attitude of those on that side of the coin. If you don’t agree and support me you have no right to speak.

Thank you Mas for being a man of integrity and allowing the voice of everyone to be heard. Keep up the good fight.

18 days and counting until we reach the next deadline for concealed carry in this sorry state. What will be the next thing to put it on hold?

  27. My comment still not there. I’ve sent at least 3 others complaining about censorship and that they are not allowing free speech.

  28. If someones know the lady ,please, attempt to convcince her although she may he exersizing her right
    1. her child at risk, and consequently herself legally if the firearm should be mishandled by young hands
    2. her community is at greater risk-should she “loose ” her firearm because she has no weapon retention skills
3.should an establisment she patronizes be visited by evil doers, she has painted a large target upon herself and those she is seated near. In the perps eyes, Who is the threat? Could be the patron carrying a gun without a clue?
You may have the right to hike in grizzly country-alone, no bear spay, no firearm. But, it sure as hell isn’t a good idea.

  29. Your comment is awaiting moderation.

I guess I learned something here. People like you are “wired” completely different than people like me. You spend all your time projecting your fears and worries on inanimate objects, other people, and “what if’s.” And yes, you acted completely like a paranoid, irresponsible gun owner for a month. It’s a Good thing most of us are not like that. Your article reads like a bad Lifetime movie.

  30. My comment on her blog:

  31. Hunter S Thomson she is not. I think the article betrays her bias in many numerous ways. For starters her getting a CCW doesn’t represent how must people attain one, most people with CCW’s have friends or know someone, they read people like Ayoob. Too many people go without even basic training in firearms safety but these people are the exception, not the rule
