Paxton Quigley was an early voice for women to keep and carry firearms to protect themselves and their families.  Now comes her newest book, “Armed & Female II: Never An Easy Target.”

I was honored to write the cover blurb. It says, “Paxton Quigley’s Armed & Female was a ground-breaking manifesto for women’s self-defense and empowerment. This new, updated edition continues that righteous purpose. If you won’t take ‘fight fire with fire’ advice from those you perceive as alpha males, consider that Paxton identifies as a progressive Democrat.”

Couldn’t say it any better now. Definitely worth the read, especially for women in your life who are on the fence insofar as armed self-protection.

  1. EXCELLENT!!

I’m sure a lot of city women are thinking about the rise in crime, and the need to defend themselves, or move to the country, nowadays.

I’m glad we Second Amendment folks have so many women on our side. In America, women rule. The government backs and supports them, the legal system favors them, most products are marketed to them, they get most college degrees, and they have more rights than we “non-women.”

Hopefully, many parents are introducing their children to firearms, so our future will be secure. We need Liberty Under Law, not Socialism. Socialism is the cure for obesity. Just ask a Venezuelan.

    • quote: “Socialism is the cure for obesity.”

      BOOMMMM!!!!

Made me laugh out loud then cheer.

  2. With so much established law recognizing the disparity of force against women It’s long overdue to have women step out of the easy target mindset in the eyes of the low life criminal Thank you Ms.Quigley.

  3. My grandmother, my mother’s mother, as a woman in the early part of the 20th century, still lived at home on her parents farm outside of Richmond VA. She rode a trolley to and from her job as a manager at Thalhimers department store in Richmond. And she carried a gun!

In the early 1960s, when I was a young teen, once, when she came to visit, I saw the gun in her suitcase and asked about it. She talked about how she used to practice shooting at a target on the side of the barn while standing on the front porch of her parents house.

She talked about traveling every day to and from work on the trolley, and how all the women friends she had at Thalhimers carried guns for defense. I inherited that her pistol. A nickle plated break action Iver Johnson double action revolver in 32 S&W. I was always fascinated by the safety feature that prevented discharge if the gun was dropped on the hammer. A feature most people think didn’t come along until much later than a gun manufactured near the turn of the 20th century. Using the serial number, it is the model designed for smokeless powder.

  4. Glad to see the book, but I still don’t get it when armed citizens vote for ‘progressive’ politicians who want to strip away their right to self defense. Don’t get me wrong, I run into customers at the gun range who have those same political views, but their cognitive dissonance is usually fairly high.
Have you had any discussions with her about that perspective?

  5. If memory serves, she came over to our side after a friend went through a very serious crime. I may give this one to my all knowing wife, glad to hear it Mas.

  6. Hi Everyone! It’s been awhile that I’ve written a new book for women regarding owning a gun or guns for self-defense. But, things have unfortunately changed. There are more women living alone than ever, more mothers who have raising children and no man around the house, and more women are realizing that they have to be wiser and understand that our world isn’t as safe as it used to be. And finally, black women and Asian women are becoming more savvy and are buying handguns. Additionally, I have included a chapter on There are alot of pictures in Armed & Female II: Never An Easy Target on non-lethal options, unarmed self-defense and security while traveling.

Stay safe and help you mothers, daughters and sisters stay safe.
Best to all of you who are fans of Massad Ayoob.

  7. If you look at the data, there does seem to be an increase in the numbers of women who are getting handgun carry permits and who (presumably) are carrying arms for self protection.

For example, consider my home State of Tennessee. Handgun Permits, in Tennessee, are issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. This department issues them statewide. They also publish annual reports giving statistical data on handgun permits in Tennessee. These reports can be found at this link:

    https://www.tn.gov/safety/stats/handgun.html

These reports also break down the annual permits issued by gender. The genders used are MALE and FEMALE. Tennessee has not “progressed” to the point of adding a “Non Binary” gender yet! 🙂

Anyway, if you look at these reports, you will see that (on average) about 32 % of all permits (issued annually) go to females. However, this percentage has not been holding steady. Rather, it has been gradually increasing.

For example, in 2012, only 28.4 % of handgun permits were issued to females. By 2021, this percentage had increased to 37.2 %. The numbers bounce around some but the overall trend is for a larger percentage of handgun permits going to females.

By the way, the figure for 2022 dropped back, a bit, to 33.4 %. I think that this drop may be related to the fact that Tennessee has recently shifted to being a “Constitutional Carry” State. So, a handgun permit is no longer strictly required for concealed carry although there are advantages to going ahead and getting a permit anyway. Note that the overall number of permits issued, in 2022, also fell.

So, with the numbers of female gun-owners and permit carriers increasing (and it is not just the Tennessee data showing this trend), there is a real need for books and training tailored for a female audience, IMHO.

  8. T Y, Paxton, and all we conscientious sheepdogs who love our Nation, Constitution, and Freedom have your back!

  9. Beware! Depending on the data posted on her maps may get you in serious trouble. Several of the postings on the Virginia data are incorrect or incomplete. I’m not familiar enough with the other states to comment on them.

  10. ” . . . Paxton identifies as a progressive Democrat.”

    Hmm . . . reminds of a quote I once saw:

“If you’re a liberal why do you carry a gun?”
“I’m a liberal, not an idiot.”

Anyway, I read ‘Armed & Female’ a good while back and IIRC it was a darn good read. I am confident A&F2 will be as well.
