"I ordered a subscription to Backwoods Home mag for my son and daughter in law for Christmas. They have received the first edition, and they love it. I’m curious though, as to why I didn’t receive my online issue? If I’m not mistaken I ordered online edition for myself."

About Backwoods Home Magazine

Backwoods Home Magazine (BHM) is a quarterly 116-page homesteading magazine with seasonal articles on building, gardening, canning, cooking, alternative energy, livestock, foraging, and preparedness. In nearly every issue of BHM, there is one article on firearms and one on politics. BHM was founded in 1989 by Dave Duffy in his garage. In 2019, after a one-year hiatus as a digital-only magazine, Dave’s son, Sam Duffy, took over the magazine and brought back the print version.

About Self-Reliance

Self-Reliance (SR) is a quarterly 100-page homesteading magazine that has articles on gardening, canning, cooking, DIY projects, livestock, foraging, and preparedness. SR does not have articles on firearms or politics, believing that readers want a break from controversial topics just as football fans want a break from politics. Whether you live deep in the woods or on the top floor of a high-rise apartment, we truly believe you can enrich your life by becoming more self-reliant.
