As you may have noticed Jackie has not blogged this week. While working on the roof of the storage building Jackie and Will both fell off. Will is banged up and bruised and Jackie broke her sternum and has a few other minor injuries.

Will called us here at the BHM office on Tuesday to let us know about the situation and said Jackie would most likely be released from the hospital Wednesday or Thursday. She will be back to blogging as soon as she feels up to it. However, it may be up to Will to get the canning done this year while she sits and gives him instructions. He will be learning a lot this year!

All of the Backwoods Home family of readers and friends wish her a speedy recovery. — Lisa, Editorial Coordinator

You are like family and I like hundreds of others who buy and read your books and blog care about you. We will be praying for your speedy recovery. Wish I could be there to help with the canning and winter prep. Instead am here in SW Florida working concrete today and pulling weeds and getting ready to start planting next month.(You are my inspiration and keep me going at a “Jackie Clay” pace even tho I am 61.) Read your articles over and over to get to sleep at night…visions of a self-reliant homestead help me leave the world’s worries behind… you do that for me and so many others. Thank you. Be well and know how very dear you are to all of us. All the best to you and yours. Hope Will has fully recovered.

  11. How terrible! I suppose this is a reminder why Jackie plans ahead and has reserves on hand. Anyone who has a poor crop or an accident or family emergency like this would hope to have her forsight and a stocked pantry. Hope you both recover fully and take time to enjoy your preparedness. Seems like the universe might be telling you to take some time to heal after all of your loss and stress this year.

    Best wishes.
