Will-fixing-tractor

After looking for parts and enjoying a 4th of July barbecue with homesteading friends, Will tore into the Oliver this morning. He had to take off the sheet metal hood, radiator, transmission cooler, and fuel tank, among other things, prior to pulling the motor to get at the clutch. Tractors have a lot of parts! As neighboring farmers are cutting hay, we’re getting nervous and impatient.

Meanwhile, the garden continues to grow well. So are our flowers in the front yard. The peonies are outdoing themselves this year, I think because of the heat and rain. Wow! What huge and plentiful flowers! Maybe they’re feeling sorry for us with our tractor woes?

The plants in the hoop houses are also doing excellent and the peppers have tons of blooms and tiny peppers. (Will did NOT fertilize them this year.) As you’ll remember, last year he did and we got tree-sized plants and very few peppers. You can be too good to peppers. — Jackie

  1. bobster,

The motor can’t fall out the bottom due to the frame. That’s why we had to lift it out over the loader arms; quite interesting as our tractor wouldn’t quite raise it high enough.

  2. Stuff always goes bad just when you need it the most.

Didja even notice that the darn roof only leaks when it rains?!

Seriously, I sympathize with Will. BTDT, didn’t even get a T-shirt.

  3. I understand about haying season. Drop everything except eating and get it done. Once, when I was a kid we had hay bales laying in the field awaiting hauling to the barn. The next morning was Sunday and when daddy heard a big clap of thunder we left in the middle of the sermon. That was the day we really got a move on – go Will!!! Good luck!

  4. the tractor looks like fun!
I just hope that he has that thing adequately supported. Having it fall on his head could ruin the whole afternoon :-)
