A little Outlaw cheer
Sunday, February 17th, 2013Not sure what got me thinking about this this morning, but as depressing as things have been lately, maybe we need this song’s Outlaw cheer. So here’s “Convoy” for ya. It’s the 1975 hit song about truckers defying authority on a grand cross-country run.

Augh! ‘Seventies CB songs, I hated ‘em!
Though this was an unusually good example, it got played on the radio almost as much as “Don’t it make my brown eyes blue.” Got to where I couldn’t stand the sight of a truck.

Huh. I didn’t know he later fell from grace. Had to do some Wikipediating on that one. Well, at least when he got political, it was as mayor of Ouray (Galt’s Gulch), Colorado. :-)

What a quinkydink! I just heard this song on the radio yesterday morning as I pulled into the Tractor Supply parking lot…don’t think I’d ever heard it before, even as a child of the 70s. ;^)

Beth … that is kinda strange. I don’t think I’ve heard or thought about that song since those days Joel gritted his teeth about. Then it pops into my head this morning with no context at all.
Charles Fort would probably know what to do with our joint quinkydink. ;-)
And Joel … Don’t ever mention that horrid “Brown Eyes Blue” song in my presence again, okay? Thank you.

Depressing to think how that song would go now.
VIPR stops. Spike strips. EM ignition jammers. Cell phone locators/jammers. Predators with Hellfire missiles. Lamestream muddia “terrorism” reports. NDAA incarcerations for the survivors. Cops shooting up little old ladies and anything — like houses — that a roid-enraged dumbass could sorta mistake for a semi. News legislation banning high capacity interstate trucking. Re-enabled CB licensing and phone licensing. I’d add more background checks/licensing/inspection of truckers, but it’s hard to imagine what else they could add. But they’d think of something.
And that’s without calling out the “Illi-noise National Guard”.
Yep, the abyss is staring back.
Turns out an old friend got elected to the state legislature where her greatest accomplishment so far has been to resist ” the urge to stand up in the middle of
a house session and yell “You people are idiots!” Which seems a waste of her time, considering the things her fellow /p/s/y/c/h/o/p/a/t/h/s/ lawmakers have been saying.

I hadn’t heard this in years that about two months ago I heard it on BBC radio Cymru( wales). They also played the light hearted skit version if it done here in the UK. That one is on YouTube too just search for Convoy UK. ;-)

I hadn’t heard that song since the late 1970′s..I’m not a big country music fan, but at least that one was funny. I think the last time I heard it was on “The Dr. Demento Show” in high school..
