Hand carders
Friday, April 4th, 2008These are my hand carders, which I used to prepare some of the fleece I showed you yesterday. This pair is made by Schacht Spindle, and retails for about $75. These are 112 psi, for use with finer wools, angora, alpaca, cashmere and the like.
I have had my eye on a drum carder for a couple years, but I am trying to wait until we get back to Oregon and start our own flock of sheep to buy it. (I may change my tune this summer when the sheep at my mom’s are shorn again…) The model I will probably purchase is made by Richard Duncan of Duncan Fiber Enterprises, in Clackamas, Oregon.
