Cabled Cardigan Recap

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

If anyone has this yarn, please let me know. I need some more! It is Mary Maxim KW Ragg, 100% acrylic, worsted weight, tan/white colorway.

Here’s the sweater today. When I ran out of yarn last year I took off the collar and button bands to see if there was enough yarn for the sleeves. There’s not. Here’s everything that’s left, a whopping five ounces, which isn’t even enough to do half of one sleeve.

I did find this yarn in a different colorway on ebay last year, a whole bunch of it, and I bought it. Here is the new yarn, left, and the old yarn.

I think I now have more of the new grey ragg (in the bag) than I had of the original tan ragg.

I tried knitting the sleeves in the new grey ragg, but they look rediculous that way, so it’s creativity time. Erik and I did a little brainstorming, and came up with the following plan:

Knit button band and collar with grey ragg, and last two rows with grey and tan ragg together. Work sleeve cuffs in tan ragg, and sleeve bodies in grey ragg. At least this way there will be a little unifying factor. Because of the nature of the ribbing and cables on the body of the sweater, I can’t undo the ribbing and replace it with the grey there.

So what do you think? Would that work?
