Olga’s happy birthday

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Olga’s birthday was Friday, and I really did plan to post pictures, but my camera ate them all. Please spare your wrath, grandparents!

Birthday Olga (small)

We like to keep celebrations pretty small. I don’t ever want to get into the trap of spending so much time on the details of the party or gifts that I don’t have time to spend where it really counts. It still seems incredible to me that only four years ago my beautiful girl was born. It seems like a lifetime has gone by, like on the day I bore her, I bore myself as well into a new world where nothing is quite predictable, or logical, but just a little bit dreamy.

Olga got a few little gifts and books, but the very best birthday gift walked through the door just as we were pulling the cake out of the oven. Daddy had been away training out-of-state for over a week, and I wasn’t expecting him to return for a few more days, but he got home just in time to pull out the guitar and sing with our birthday girl until way past bedtime.

Sweet little Olga, I love you so much. I know you had a wonderful birthday–thank you for making it so special.
