I really miss this guy already
I took Erik down to the airport on Friday morning, and I only cried a little bit after I was back in the truck. I’ve been thinking about what I should write since then, and I can’t figure out how to put down what I mean, so I’ll just leave you with a picture of Erik from a few days ago, here in our big wood.

At least you can keep busy and kiss they little guys everyday–something we women have been doing for ages when our guys have gone off somewhere that we can’t go.

He will be back before you know it! I dare to say that you will even be a bit frustated that you still have sewing to finish and projects for the magazine to complete when all of a sudden here comes Eric! We are praying for all of you.

I’m with you, I just dropped my sweetie off about 2 weeks ago. Had to switch to “project mode” to “use the time wisely” and to keep from feeling glum. You’re all in my thoughts.

Please Thank Erik for me— I am so proud that he has the courage to go and “take care” of our fabulous country. In his heart I bet he would prefer to be there with you and his beautiful kids. Thanks to you also for having the courage to let him go and do his job- you are an amazing woman Ms Annie….

Annie, my heart goes out to you. It’s so hard. Make sure you tell him all the “normal” things you do at home in your notes/emails to him - even if it sounds boring to you, it will help him stay connected. Believe me, war is NOT normal. He’ll want that reality check from the one he loves the most.
And it’s fine to cry! Good Heavens! I’d be a mess!

He’ll be home soon! I can’t believe Shane’s been gone 6 months already. I know you miss him, but the sooner he goes the sooner my hubby comes back. Know that you guys are in my prayers.

As an Army wife myself, I understand the stresses of deployment. I’ll share with you what I would tell my husband when he was away. “Be safe. Do a good job. And come home soon.”

I have been there done that and most likely will be going through it again. I have also been on that side myself. Not to Iraq though just underway. As they said before even the “boring” minutes mean the most. My husband got a flash drive that hung on a neckless. There he would down load all the new baby pictures I sent him of the son he had yet to meet. He had hundreds by the time he got home. Seems he didn’t miss a minute. Also I put together a “while you were gone” album of picture. One is of my oldest son when he was about two months old facing backwards in his car seat staring at a blown up picture of my husband taped to the back seat. I figured that way he would know him when he got back. Take care it will fly by!
