No. My dad was adopted, so there couldn’t be any blood relationship there. And, as far as I know, none of the McManigals in his family were anything other than farmers and such- no urbanites in the woodpile.
This is way off the subject, but since the folks here seem like a educated and experienced lot, I thought I’d post this. I’ve seen two people remove boots from cars without tools, or destroying the boot. One was a hydraulic equipped car that raised itself and just sort of let the boot fall off(looked funny), another was simply wiggled off. I’ve had others say I was lying, that taking a boot off without a grinder or something is impossible. Quick research says maybe not.
Most likely reason-boot was improperly installed..another possibility-with some boots can be removed simply by letting the air out of the tire. Of course, they probably have your license plate number(if you have one-I’ve seen cars with two year old 30 day temporary tags). Opinions? Other odd observation-no one came to retrieve the boots for days…
