spinning wheel

In the evenings, right after the kids go to bed, it has been our tradition to sit down with something good to drink and watch anime. I’ve never been able to just sit idly and watch tv, so I always have to have something in my hands to work on.

Lately I’ve been spinning some of the roving my mom had processed into two-ply yarn. This wool is from a sheep named “Cotton” who lived with my mom. Even though his age was quite advanced, his wool is very soft and has wonderful crimp and luster. Sadly he passed away a couple seasons ago, so this is his last fleece (actually, this is a combination of his last two fleeces, carded together with some nylon added). It’s been very pleasant to work with. I think I can probably finish the rest of the fleece tonight, if I treadle fast. I have four more fleeces to spin after this: two silver, and two black.
