Nooz and a good laugh

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

You know, it takes a lot more brainpower to write long, thoughtful, personal posts than it does to toss out a little news (maybe accompanied by a bit of snark or righteous indignation). So while I continue working on the “Perspective” Blog Tome, news (and one really good laugh) it is for today.

Now for the hilarity. This isn’t new, either. But if it doesn’t give you a belly laugh even after repeated viewings, check your pulse because you must be dead.

  1. Joel Says:

I blew a line in my vows, and not-quite-yet-wife got a little mad at me. Should have taken it as an omen.

  2. Aynonymous Says:

    re the video

At least he didn’t say “awfully”.

  3. furrydoc Says:

Hey, Thanks for the good laugh, I needed that! Been fighting a cold all week. I think it is finally starting to beak up.

  4. MamaLiberty Says:

Oh, that video is wonderful! What a beautiful, wise woman, to find humor and joy in that situation. Sounds like they are going to be very happy. Doesn’t happen often enough. :)

  5. Claire Says:

I agree, Mama. I thought the husband did great, too, with his wry comments. He could have reacted as if she were laughing at him and been upset. Instead, he rolled with it and had fun. I understand that the idea to put that moment on YouTube was both their choices — but they weren’t ever expecting anybody beyond friends and family ever to see it.

  6. Matt, another Says:

The only way to survive marriage is with a great sense of humor. They’ll do alright.

  7. Pat Says:

Off topic:The latest LMP interview is out with James Bovard, if you haven’t heard it yet.

Looks like they are going to have a lot of fun. Good on ‘em.

On the “Logic of Surveillance”, when I think of the things they could be recording of me, most of the time it must be very boring and ordinary. And when it is not, (I hope anyway), all they need to do is get on the Internet and see what I write for public consumption.

So I have the sneaking suspicion that the point of surveillance is not really to gather intelligence or material for blackmail or anything like that, but just to instill fear and oppression in people. That’s the real job.

Somehow I don’t worry much about it any more. But I do run linux and encrypt my computer disk and use VPN just to piss the snoops off and make life difficult for the voyeurs and perverts watching us.
